Privacy policy
Cities of Europe has no accounts or advertising. This policy explains its self-hosted analytics, hosting, page tools, and contact form.
Analytics
Cities of Europe uses Rybbit, a self-hosted analytics service at rybbit.nmajor.net. The operator controls that instance. Analytics data is not sent to an advertising network or sold.
Rybbit records page hostname, path and query string, page title, referrer, browser and device details, screen size, browser language, coarse location derived from the request IP address, Core Web Vitals, outbound-link clicks, and selected site-tool actions. Tool events cover table filtering, sorting, pagination and export, random-city draws and copies, city-detail panels, share and citation controls, Google Preferred Sources requests, and contact-form submission topics.
Tool-event details can include public city slugs, a ranking or filter name, applied or cleared state, result counts, sort direction, export type, share or citation method, and contact topic. They do not include city-search text, custom numeric filter values, random seeds, clipboard contents, contact names, email addresses, messages, Turnstile tokens, or form-field keystrokes.
The Cities of Europe property does not retain raw IP addresses, record session replays, capture JavaScript errors, or identify signed-in users. Anonymous user identifiers rotate daily.
The analytics script does not set cookies. It does not load when the browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or when analytics has been disabled below.
That choice is stored as disable-rybbit=1 in local storage for this site. It takes effect on the next page load. Clearing site data resets it.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Cloudflare processes ordinary network and security data needed to serve requests and prevent abuse. This can include your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser headers, and security signals. Cloudflare controls its own network logs and security systems.
Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary for network security or abuse prevention. Cities of Europe does not set analytics or advertising cookies.
Contact form
If you submit the form, Cities of Europe collects the name, reply email address, topic, and message you provide. The form also records your browser's User-Agent header and the country code supplied by Cloudflare. These details help the operator reply, route the message, diagnose technical reports, and limit abuse.
Cloudflare Turnstile processes a browser-generated token and ordinary request data, including your IP address, to check whether the submission is automated. The site sends the token to Cloudflare for verification and does not add it to the saved support message.
Accepted messages go to a managed Chatwoot inbox on the operator's self-hosted instance at chatwoot.nmajor.net. Chatwoot stores the contact details, message, topic, User-Agent, and country code so the operator can read and respond to the conversation.
Share, Cite, and external links
The Share and Cite tools run in your browser. Citation formats are generated on your device from the page title, canonical URL, and access date. Copying uses the browser clipboard when available.
If you choose a sharing destination or another external link, your browser contacts that service only after you activate the link. The destination then handles the request under its own privacy terms.
Google Preferred Sources
Cities of Europe does not load Google's Preferred Sources script. Selecting "Prefer on Google" follows a direct link to Google's source preferences page for www.citiesofeurope.com. Your browser contacts Google only after you activate that link.
Google then receives ordinary request data such as your IP address and browser headers. If you sign in, Google controls account data, cookies, eligibility, and the preference setting. Cities of Europe does not receive your Google account details or learn whether you completed the selection.
Retention and your choices
Contact messages remain in Chatwoot as needed to read the request, respond, keep context for follow-up, and handle abuse. Cities of Europe does not promise a fixed retention period.
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information from a contact submission. Use the contact form and include enough information to identify the earlier conversation. The same route handles privacy questions. Cities of Europe does not publish a contact email address.
