Eurostat GISCO — Urban Audit 2024 geography
In use
The geography backbone: official Urban Audit city / greater-city and functional-urban-area identifiers, names, country codes, FUA links, areas and NUTS3 codes.
Authority Eurostat GISCO
Vintage Urban Audit 2024 statistical units
Cadence Annual / on GISCO release
Licence © EuroGeographics for administrative boundaries; Eurostat GISCO distribution terms apply.
How we cite it: Cite Eurostat GISCO Urban Audit 2024 for geography type, area and identifiers. Do not mix city, greater-city and FUA grains in one claim.

Eurostat GISCO — Country boundaries (CNTR_RG)
In use
Official country reference geometry used only to draw the country-locator outline on each city page. Projected to an SVG path with a per-country cosine-corrected transform; the city pin reuses the GISCO Urban Audit label point. A generalized locator graphic, not a boundary claim.
Authority Eurostat GISCO
Vintage 2024 country geometry, 1:20M generalization
Cadence Annual / on GISCO release
Licence © EuroGeographics for administrative boundaries; Eurostat GISCO distribution terms apply.
How we cite it: Present as a generalized locator graphic from Eurostat GISCO 2024 (CNTR_RG, 1:20M), not a boundary or sovereignty claim. Overseas territories are cropped for display only.

Eurostat — Regional statistics (NUTS)
In use

Authority Eurostat
Vintage Latest non-null year per region (GDP to 2024; life expectancy 2024)
Cadence Weekly checks; revised on Eurostat's schedule
Licence © European Union. Eurostat data are reusable with source acknowledgement (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU).
How we cite it: Cite Eurostat regional statistics with indicator, NUTS code and year; present as a regional value, not a city figure.

Eurostat — Purchasing power parities
In use
Country price-level context attached to each city by GISCO country code. It stays country-grain and is never treated as a city cost-of-living basket.
Authority Eurostat
Vintage 2024 price level index, GDP, EU27_2020=100
Cadence Weekly checks; annual values revised on Eurostat's schedule
Licence © European Union. Eurostat data are reusable with source acknowledgement (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU).
How we cite it: Cite Eurostat PPP, GDP price level index, reference year and country grain; do not call it a city-level price or affordability measure.

Cadence Monthly checks; public annual metrics use completed years
Licence European Environment Agency data reuse terms apply; cite EEA as source.
How we cite it: Cite EEA monthly AQ statistics, pollutant, reference year, coverage threshold and days-weighted annual aggregation; do not present it as a forecast or station-only observation.

Copernicus ERA5-Land monthly means
In use
Gridded reanalysis climate: mean annual / January / July temperature, annual precipitation and mean surface solar radiation (1991–2020 normals), assigned to each city's nearest grid cell. Wind is captured but not shown. Not station weather or a forecast.
Authority Copernicus Climate Data Store / ECMWF
Vintage 1991–2020 climate normals
Cadence Monthly product; normals revised per decade
Licence Generated using Copernicus Climate Change Service information; ERA5-Land, licence CC-BY-4.0, ECMWF/Copernicus attribution required.
How we cite it: Cite ERA5-Land reanalysis with variable, the 1991–2020 normal period, unit and the centroid grid-cell assignment. It is not station weather or a forecast.

Copernicus Urban Atlas 2018
Registered · not yet built
Official Urban Atlas package catalogue is registered and normalized as metadata. City metric rows are blocked until FlatGeobuf class areas are overlaid against validated GISCO boundaries.
Authority Copernicus Land Monitoring Service
Vintage 2018 Urban Atlas product catalogue
Cadence Multi-year product; catalogue checked on update cycles
Licence Copernicus Land Monitoring Service data licence and attribution apply.
How we cite it: Cite Urban Atlas only after a validated land-cover overlay exists; the catalogue alone cannot support city land-cover claims.
